What leaves your browser, where it goes and why. We set no cookies, run no analytics and show no ads.

From your browser to the Library of Congress: the town you search and the parts of the scan you look at. To our server, only at checkout: the item, the sheet and the crop's numbers, to assemble the print.
Who we are

What leaves your browser, and to whom

The Library's own legal and privacy page covers what it does with the requests your browser sends it. We don't receive them.
What we never collect
No cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising.
The studio keeps its state in the address bar, so a link to your crop carries the item, the sheet and the crop and nothing else. Nothing is written to your browser's storage.
Why we use it
To assemble, print, ship and support the order you placed, and to keep the records the law requires for a sale. That's the contract between us, and for tax records a legal obligation. We don't sell or share your details for advertising.
How long it's kept
Stripe keeps the order record, including your name, email and address, for as long as the law requires us to keep sales records. The print file and its preview stay in our file store so we can remake a damaged print. Vercel's logs expire on its own schedule. Write to us and we'll delete what the law lets us delete.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, and object to how it's used. If you're in the EU or the UK, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority. If you're in California, we don't sell or share personal information as the CCPA defines those words. Write to support@painted.app and we'll answer within 30 days.
Where it's processed
In the United States, where we, Vercel, Stripe and Resend are based, and wherever the print lab that makes your print is. The services we use offer the standard contractual safeguards for transfers out of the EU and the UK.
Children
This shop is for adults. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If a child has given us something, write to us and we'll remove it.
Changes
If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it. The terms of service and the shipping and returns page cover the rest of an order.
